                                            your prostate is enlarged
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
a prostate larger than 40cc is considered enlarged. Larger than 80cc is too large. The management of such situations depends a lot on the patient's symptoms. In asymptomatic individuals no intervention is mandatory. With minimal symptoms, drug treatment (with alpha blockers) can be initiated and is usually effective. In the most severe cases surgical treatment can provide relief to the patient.
The symptoms may include:
- a sensation of incomplete bladder evacuation after finishing urination.
- having to urinate too frequently (less than 2 hours after the last urination)
- difficulty when urinating which causes the patient to start and then stop and restart the urination.
- urgency. The patient finds it too hard to postpone urination.
- Weak stream.
- Difficulty in initiating urine flow.
- frequent visits to the toilet during the night.
