Question : My prostrate is measured as 5.2 x4.9x3.5 cm and weighs 46 grams. Th radiologist finds the prostrate is enlarged in size with normal echotexture and no focal lesion seen. I am 56 years old and due for a valve replacement next month. What action should be taken doctor.

I have gone through the details. The report indicates a condition called benign hypertrophy of prostate. It is frequency in in males of your age. In initial stages when there is no significant hesitancy of urine, medical treatment with drugs like tamsulosin or finasterice suffices. The medicine needs to continue. Subsequently surgical intervention with TURP (trans urethral resection of prostate) may be required in some cases.

I think that you need not worry about this. Your doctor can go ahead with the valve replacement as planned.
