Question : Looks like my six year old grandson had a stomach virus that lasted a couple of days. We were concerned because he has had episodes of vomiting & stomach aches in the past. Since his pediatrician is not concerned because he has had no other symptoms with the past episodes, I believe now that they were a result of seasonal allergies since he doesn't have any problem in the summer or winter. I know that the stomach also produces histamines, which I think have been causing the stomach aches & vomiting in the past.

Hi

I understand your concerns but don't worry. Recurrent stomachaches and vomitings in this age group is most likely due to self limiting viral infections, parasitic infestations or allergic episodes. In case he develops similar episodes then do go for a stool examination to rule out infestations and infections. Also, an CBC, IgE and AEC test will be of value to check for allergic tendency.

You may use Albendazole for deworming every year will be of value. Ensure healthy fibre rich diet and plenty of fluids with good physical activity for healthy living.
