Question: am 23 years of age, I have type 1 diabetes since 8 years and am on insulin. I have my sugar in control and maintain a very healthy lifestyle. Recently ( been 2 days) i have noticed not having my regular hard morning erections. Also, like in the past i used to get aroused really easily and now i feel suddenly within these past two days my arousal rates have dropped. This is becoming a very stressful situation. i get hard when i make an attempt. but the erections seem less hard than before. I used to take horny goat weed which was a natural supplement for my work outs before and now since these last two stressful days i started takiny enzyte. To add to it i had started taking dessicated liver tabs for my muscle mass few weeks back which i have stopped In additon i have been clockinng in very few hours of sleep lately. An online search of effects of lack of sleep revealed few synptoms i have. Like tiredness, weakness, lack of reliazation of reality at instances.

Brief Answer: Endocrine Detailed Answer: I am sorry to note your new symptoms. Erectile dysfunction is a medical term used to describe poor erections. However one cannot use that diagnostic label for your condition because it is of short duration only. If it becomes persistent and chronic, lasting well over several weeks to months, then it merits further evaluation. Furthermore, there is clearly a stressful situation you are going through as you have shared. Inadequate sleep worsens the problem too. Stress is known to lower the body's testosterone production. It often recovers back to normal when the stress goes away. Also, I strongly recommend against any of those supplements you have listed. There is no published scientific data to support these. It is quite possible some of the ingredients in them cause the current symptoms you are experiencing. As a person with type 1 diabetes, your glucose control is paramount to optimal erectile function. I am glad to hear your diabetes is well controlled. You should have your thyroid checked once a year in the form of a simple blood test called TSH and TPO/TG autoantibodies. No fasting is required for this. Thyroid problems are common in people with type 1 diabetes and can affect erections
