Question : I am 62 years old and since last one year there ie problem of erection of penis and due to that unable to perform intercourse.iIs this problem due to ageing or medication to control BP.Pl suggest some natural course or some external gel for application to improve the erectile problem as I am not keen to take medicine to improve

Thanks for writing to us.

After age of 50 erection problem is common. In many patients with blood pressure problem erection problem is common. It can be due to uncontrolled blood pressure as well as may be due to medicines for blood pressure. Low testosterone level due to aging is also common cause.

Let me know following,

- Since when are you suffering from BP? Is your blood pressure under control? Which medicines are you taking for BP and in what dose?

- Is there any problem in urinating?

- Is there any other physical illness do you have?

I would like to recommend following supplements for your problems.

You can use medicine cum vitamin supplement containing pyridoxal-5-phosphate, mecobalamin and l-methylfolate (trade name tetrafol plus) is very helpful in my patients. It has shown improvement in 50-60 patients of mine with erectile dysfunction. You may get this medicine over the counter as it is vitamin product.

I would like to also mention ayurvedic medicine option. Tentex forte is the medicine which is used for sex related problem. No side effects have been reported.

If I were your treating doctor I suggest one tablet of tetrafol plus after meal twice daily for two months and one tablet tentex forte daily at night with a cup of milk for 4 weeks.
