Suggest Treatment For Excessive Belching, Severe Heartburn And Itching On The Upper Body

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Nov 2016
Question: Over the past 3-4 days I have had excessive belching and what I believe to be bad heartburn with the burning in the chest area. I've also had itching of the left breast with moderate discomfort on the left side of my back, starting at the shoulder area down to my waist. Itchiness is driving me crazy. Have taken benadryl and cortizone cream. Have a weird bruise sort of under my arm/bra area, possibly from scratching??? Also one spot on my shoulder blade area, again left side, that sort of stings. Any ideas???

Brief Answer:
Get yourself clinically examined and investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that you might be having gastritis as the cause of your heartburn. I would advise that you should take an antacid like Omeprazole 40 mg once a day for relief.
Regarding itchiness on your left side of your upper body, I would suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated to rule out Herpes zoster. I would advise that you should take an antihistamine like Fexofenadine 120 mg once a day for relief from your symptoms.
Further medical management can be planned according to the clinical evaluation of your doctor.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query,I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. Regarding the possible gastritis. I am already on omeprazole, prescribed by my doctor for years. I also started taking some Zantac this week. It's a lot of belching and discomfort in the left shoulder/back and breast area.

On the other with itching - I actually don't have a rash, which is why it's so weird. Although am now noticing two (what appear to be) bug bites on my back, but nothing on my breast.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
A clinical examination will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for providing more information.
You can add Domperidone 30 mg along with the antacids you are taking. This will help in relief from excessive belching and flatulence.
If your symptoms of left sided pain persists, get an ECG (Electrocardiogram) done.
Regarding itching, continue the antihistamine as advised earlier.
Get yourself clinically examined and investigated by your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. If you have any further doubts, please mention.
Regards. Thanks.
