Options for excessive facial hair

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
Now your problem is that of excessive hair growth over the face.
First of all, I would like to tell you that this is a very common skin problem especially in the peri menopausal age group.
The best treatment for this would be a laser hair removal . You can get it done from any nearby dermatologist who has a laser set up.
Since the areas involved in your case is not that much, so it would not be a very expensive option.
As far as temporary options are concerned, you can the eflora cream over the affected areas twice a day. This is basically a temporary measure to reduce the hair growth. But it has to be used for as long as the hair growth needs to be suppressed. It is only a temporary measure.

Dear dr
Thanks for your advise. As for laser hair removal does it remove the hair permanently? I have been told that it works only on dark hair and certain skins. I have facial hair that has turned grey too. Will laser work on it to permanently remove it. Also the area has got pigmentation due to plucking of the hair. Wont the pigmentation increase due to laser. There are lots of stories abt the bad effects of laset hair removal where people have suffered from severe pigmentation because it. Can't the hair growth be controlled and stopped by taking medications? Please respond as I am really worried about it.

Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
Hair removal techniques for grey hair

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

You are right . Lasers do not work on grey hair.
Now in such a case, there is an option of hair electrolysis. This procedure is done only by few dermatologists but it works for grey hair as well.
The other option can be application of the medicine that I told earlier but it is only a temporary measure .
I would suggest that you can try to find out regarding the centres in your city that does electrolysis for grey hair. It takes multiple sittings but it is a permanent hair removal method.

Dear dr

Thanks for your reply.
Electrolysis can scar the skin if not done properly? Is it guaranteed permanent hair removal . will it not increase the pigmentation in that area. Are there any medication that can be orally taken to stop the hair.

Hair removal for grey hair

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Unfortunately , there is no oral medicine which can decrease the facial hair growth .
But yes, if done in right hands , by an expert in the field, electrolysis should cause no problems.
It requires multiple sittings just like laser, but it is a method of permanent hair reduction just like laser.
