Question : I don't want to take my pain medication for many reasons. I haven't been able to regain my energy. Every time I stop taking it, two days later I'm incredibly exhausted, and it doesn't go away even after three weeks. It's an endless cycle. Can you suggest some kind of vitamin supplement or anything to help with regaining my energy? I've always been a high-energy person until my skiing accident. I'm sick of medicine together!

Brief Answer:
A number of things to consider

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I completely understand how you feel and along with any multi-vitamin supplement available at your medical store (if you want a name, please write to me with the district and country your are from), please also add a B-complex supplement, and calcium supplement.

If possible, also get your vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels checked. I understand there is a chance you stayed indoors more often than you used to since the accident, if this is particularly true then please also try to expose yourself to as much sunlight as possible, as reduced sunlight especially at your age can also lead to a vitamin D deficiency.

Another factor I would like to take into consideration is the possibility of reduced hormone levels due to your age and a soon approaching menopause. Menopause or peri-menopause (period around menopause) can cause low hormone levels that can cause weakness and low energy levels as well. So please do get your sexual hormone panel conducted as well.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please do not hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
