Posted on Mon, 28 Nov 2016
Question: I started taking Cymbalta 60 mg qhs Sunday night. I am sleeping all the time, have no appetite, and a mildly upset stomach. If I stop it, after 5 days, will I withdraw from it? I'm on it for depression, but I feel worse since taking it. Suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

The worst side effects of any antidepressant medication occur within the first 1-2 weeks. After that, side effects subside, and the antidepressant effects kick in. I would strongly advise waiting it out. Also, stopping after 5 days might cause withdrawal, adding to the problem. Sleeping too much, lack of appetite -- these are depressive symptoms that I expect the medication would help over time. Try sticking with it for another week or so at least.
