Suggest Treatment For Excessive Weight Gain

Question: hi
I am a 33 year old who suffers from years of addiction from stimulants such as adderall, ephedrine, and other CNS stimulants. At the time of using these stimulants I was consistently restricting calories becoming anorexic. Since then I am still using these stimulants however my weight has drastically increased due to my increased intake of calories. I have noticed many deformities in my body due to stimulant use and weight fluctuation. These deformities include low muscle mass, high adipose (fat) deposits in areas such as the belly, breasts, thighs, neck, face and lower back which seem impossible to reduce. I believe these deformities are due to the increase in cortisol (years of high stress levels) which has also impacted my skeletal muscles. Upon research I have found that there may be a solution to reverse the effects and deformities that cortisol has endured on my body. the solution I researched is a steroid named Anavar (Oxandrolone). What are your thoughts? and professional opinion? regarding this treatment option. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have or recommendations.

Thank you
doctor

About oxandrolone use:

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
I do appreciate the phys-pathological mechanisms and conclusions you have made, but i would suggest you to try to loose wait and regain your body shapes naturally, not with synthetic anabolic steroids. That would be the best way.
You are right, one of the clinical uses of oxandrolone is to promote weight gain after weight loss, to offset the protein catabolism associated with prolonged administration of corticosteroids, but the mechanism you suggested (increase of cortisol due to stress) is not verified.
Furthermore, you should know that anabolic steroid may have many side effects, one of the most important is mood changes and depression.
So, rather to take these risky steps, i would suggest to start physical activity and a low carbohydrate diet.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta

Hi Dr Mirjeta,

The increased effects of cortisol is due to the use of stimulant ephedrine which has an amphetamine like chemical compounds which stimulates the Central Nervous System. At a certain time in my life I was restricting calories to under 500 in conjunction with it being low carb while using ephedrine to suppress my appetite aiding in my weight loss regime causing increased levels of cortisol. Unfortunately I was not able to consistently follow the daily caloric restriction which eventually led to me dramatically increasing my calories by way of binging on foods that were high in carbohydrates, sugar and fats. this led to glucose levels being drastically increased causing cortisol levels to fluctuate therefore increasing adipose deposits and damaging muscle cells and eventually breakdown of muscle tissue. This lifestlye was how I managed my life for almost 15 years which may have been the contributing factors to the deformities I portray to this present day. appreciate any further thoughts or analysis

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
As i can understand from your description you have confirmed high glucose levels and cortisol levels, am i right?
If yes, the situation is a bit more complicated and before attributing the high cortisol level to the fluctuations of glucose and stimulant ephedrine, further examinations are needed to rule out pathologies that cause high cortisol.
I would still not recommend to start oxandrolone but try to reduce the calories intake, physical activity and stop taking stimulants, as you have seen that the diet has been effective in reducing your body weight.
Otherwise, if the cortisol level persists high after the low dose dexametasone suppresion test, it means that there is pathology keeping the cortisol level high and it should be treated.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have still queries.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
