Question : Hi I've had mono before and my right side has been achy for a few days and I've been exhausted. I've been resting and taking Tylenol to help with the pain is there anything else I should be doing?

I appreciate your concern

You should continue with bed rest and Tylenol as per need intake. Take adequate fluids and eat a healthy balanced diet. There is no restriction on diet in Infectious mononucleosis.

The tonsils and throat needs to be examined. Airway patency should be determined. Blood counts and ESR can be advised by your doctor to rule out any other possibility.

If the pain is not well controlled with Tylenol then ibuprofen can be advised as 400 mg tablets to be taken 3 or 4 times a day accordingly. If a bacterial infection is suspected and a focus of infection is there then antibiotics can be advised in consult with your GP.
