Suggest Treatment For External Hemorrhoids

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Jan 2015
Question: I have what I think is an external hemorrhoid which is very bright red. Also a pointy-white tipped "hemorrhoid" which when feeling with light pressure- bled bright red blood. This was a few days ago and it is still bright red with white tip. I have increased my fiber over the last couple months so now my bowel movements are not solid- very very soft. No pain related to any of this. I have had this for about a month now

Brief Answer:
Sounds like Hemorrhoids. Please see a Surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,
By your description they are most probably Hemorrhoids.
Its good that your bowel movements are soft. That will prevent any spontaneous bleeding from the Hemorrhoids.
But you should see your GP or a Surgeon who can examine you and advice you accordingly.
If it gets confirmed, then you might need treatment in the form of Sclerotherapy or Banding or Surgery.
In Sclerotherapy, we put a small injection of a Sclerosing agent which will shrink the Hemorrohid.
In banding, we put a soft band around the base of the Hemorrhoid to shrink it until it finally falls off. These are fairly painless procedures.
But the most definitive and long lasting is Surgery in which the Hemorrohids are completely removed under anaesthesia.
You could discuss the same with your Surgeon once the diagnosis is established.
Do not worry, it would be alright but please get it examined.
Take care and do let us know if there are other queries that we could help you with.
