My mother-in-law is experiencing extreme fatigue and loss of appetite. I know she has a history of ulcers. She has no energy and spends a lot of time lying down. She has no appetite and is losing weight. She lives in Slovenia. My sister-in-law says that her blood work is normal, she had an ultrasound of the stomach that was normal and an EKG that was normal. That is all I know right now. We will be leaving on Aug. 2 to visit and was hoping I might be able to make some suggestions of other tests that could be done to find out what is wrong with her.
Detailed history and actual reports please
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Noted the history about your Mother-in-law and understood the concerns.
Extreme fatigue, loss of appetite and weight may have a reason/cause.
Blood work, Ultrasound of abdomen and EKG are normal.
It would have been helpful if you could post the blood tests done so far.
Any other symptoms that your sister-in-law has noted.
You may please ask for the following in such a situation:
The actual reports.
Is it just a loss of interest in life or any other symptoms like coughing, change in bowel habits, urinary symptoms, anemia, edema over legs, change of voice or swallowing difficulty, any lumps in breast or pains anywhere in the body.
Detailed history makes it possible to have judgment about the proper clinical evaluation and further specific investigations to know the cause.
Blood tests for CBC, diabetes, kidney, liver, pancreas and thyroid functions.
X-ray of chest.
Tests of stool and urine.
Any additional tests as per the symptoms and signs.
Also watch for psychological changes if any.
I hope this answer helps you.
Please give feedback and feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
With regards.
