Question : My husband, 82, has been sleeping almost all of the weekend and seems extremely fatigued. He had urinary incontinence during the night. He has no pain or fever,no cough, no pain on urinating, but has poor appetite but has eaten small meals. He seems not so much confused as slow to understand. He has spoken only a little. He has several underlying health conditions including CHF, kidney stones and decreased function, a bladder mass, and some anemia. He was recently seen by most of his Dr's and was doing very well. He had an aortic valve replacement in March 2013.
Brief Answer:
A urinary or other occult infection is often the cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I appreciate your concern for your husband.
Since he has many health issues, small infections can give him a little clouding of the sensorium. It is often a urinary infection. Pain is not always necessary. It may be nice if you could get his urine examined. Please check his temperature also.
If he is not getting better, it would be better that you have him examined by a doctor.
Best wishes,
