Brief Answer:
Eczema does not occur bc of decreased immunity.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to the HCM.
Eczema runs in the families. The person who have eczema tends to have hypersensitive skin. That means it is not because of decreased immunity but abnormal immune response of skin to anything which causes skin to be more sensitive.
It tends to be genetic means by birth .And some people have mild form and some people have moderate to severe response.
For example eczematous skin has tendency to react with any trigger (that can be environment ,cold weather, woolen clothes or whatever that irritates the skin) in form of increased mast cells inside skin ,which causes redness, itching and eczematous symptoms.
Now the thing is that you have to note down first ,what are the factors which trigger your symptoms .The most common triggers are soaps and cleansers, perfumes, makeup, dust and sand ,chlorine, solvents, pollen in environment, cigarrettes smoking.I would suggest you to stop using maurijuana for some time to note weather your symptoms subside . Because there can be any outsider thing which can cause hypersensitivity of skin.It depends how you note them down and avoid them.
For medicines ,using emollients two to three times a day is the most important step , and avoid soaps ;instead use moisturising lotions and shampoos.
In last I would like to know , what percent of steroid cream ,are you using and what are the creams ,you are using this time.
Hopefully my answer will be helpfull. You may ask further ,if you have more questions to ask.

that doesnt really help me at all, i dont use ANY cream or moistorizer on my skin anymore because nothing works, ive literally tried everything! i beleive excema isnt a skin condition because of this reason i believe its caused by something im putting in my body. steriod creams make it worse, moustorizers make it worse, soap free cleaners make it worse, even aloe vera makes it worse, im so over trying a new cream because its just a waste of money, is there anything you can do to actually help me? doctors just tell me to use a moistorizer and a steriod cream both make it worse? i cant fathom my hate for creams/moistorizers right now because they simply do not work, this condition is just getting worse and its causing me psychological damage

i am only using paw paw cream and that makes my skin red and oil but its the only thing that gets rid of dry skin. i dont want to use any cream anymore because they simply dont work when i used steriod cream i used o.o5 percent strength the weakest one i could get and all that did was make it worse

Brief Answer:
Oral medicines could be helpfull.

Detailed Answer:
Dear I can understand your problem. It is genetic problem ,so all depends on how the symptoms have to be controlled only .Since it has been two years ,you have no cure with topical ointments. The second line management of eczema is oral medicines.
As I have already mentioned that eczema is actually an over response of immune function of skin.So the medicines which decrease this over response can be used to control the disease. For example predinisolone ,which gain rapid control of the eczema, but they can not be continued for more than a few weeks. And if ongoing oral medication is required a non steroidal immunosuppressant agents such as azathioprine ,methotraxate, ciclosporin or mycophenolate may be used to enable the dose of steroid to be reduced and eventually discontinued. These medicines should be taken under the supervision of your treating dermatologist.
To decrease the redness and itching, oral anti histamines can be used. And with that continue your that ointment which you feel helps you more.

Hopefully I answered your question,You may ask further,if I need to clarify you more.

Wish you best of health.
Regards,Dr.Maheshwari

Brief Answer:
These medicines have some side effects.

Detailed Answer:
Since immunesuppressants can cause decreased immunity,so decreased stamina of fighting of any infection. But if these medicines benefits outweigh their side effects,so can be taken under supervision of doctor.
Phototherapy is an other option ,to treat eczema and if eczema flares up.
You may visit your treating doctor ,so that he can examine you and prescribe the medicines accordingly. You may also share my opinion with your doctor after getting examined.
Since topical ointments are not working for you,so other options are phototherapy or oral medicines.(anti histamines like levocitrizine ,oral predinisolone and immunosuppressants).
Hopefully my answer will be helpfull for you.

Brief Answer:
Food that causes flare up should be avoided.

Detailed Answer:
Dear as eczema is not food related condition,so any particular diet regime would not help.
But yes if some foods or anything which trigger your itching and redness ,then it should be avoided.
Also as I have mentioned earlier that taking oral medicines should be under supervision of dermatologist (skin specialist) only.Since we can not prescribe medicines here.
So better you get examined by a skin especialist and then he can prescribe accordingly. As safe and first line treatment are ointments and emollients but as these are not working for you ,so second line treatment would help you more ,which I have earlier mentioned ,and second line treatment should be under supervision of skin specialist.
Wish you best of health.
