Question : I have been having fatigue, and joint pain, particularly in the hip. The only lab values which appear out of line are lymphocytes [16percent], PTH at 69.5 and calcium at 10.2. What would you tell me if I were your patient?

                                    Brief Answer:
Your parathormone hormone is slightly raised.
Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,
Your parathormone hormone is slightly raised.
Normally PTH rises when serum calcium is low. Your calcium is fine.
Normal parathormone levels are up to 65pg/ml and calcium upper level is 11mg%
Maybe your calcium was low before and in response to that PTH got raised. Now that calcium is normal, it will also come to normal.
I would suggest you repeat after 15 days.
If it continues to rise--get a sonography/scan of parathyroid glands in the neck (beside thyroid gland on either side) to look for any problem there.
If it remains steady or comes down--I would not worry.
Regards
