Question : Iam a 56 year old male. Iam suffering from Hypothyrodism and grade III fatty liver( NAFLD). Iam under medication for hypertension and on alternate days one tab for cholestrol. I take one Thyroxine-1oomg in the morning in empty stomach. After 2 hours I take one Telma-H for hypertension and alternate days before going to sleep I take one Orvas-FT. Iam slightly obese due to my work habitand all my test such as tryglycerides, cholestrol, blood tests, LFT are normal. Iam a teetotaler and a pure vegan. I have undergone gall bladder removal. My food habits are good except for my weight. Height-5ft 7inches= 93 kilos. I want a good presciption for fatty liver. Please help me. XXXX ( YYYY@YYYY )

Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.

The treatment options are:

1. Diet - low calorie diet rich in fiber.

2. Regular aerobic exercise 30-45 minutes a day. Aim for a weight reduction of around 10 kg for you.

3. Medications

a. Vitamin E 400 mg twice daily

b. Pioglitazone 7.5-15 mg per day - dose adjustment based on blood sugars

c. Other medicines like UDCA, omega 3 fatty acids are tried in some patients
