Brief Answer:
Fatty liver does not cause pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit very short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/67 - fatty liver - aches - wants to know whether there is anything that the patient can do - Visited a Doctor - on pain medicines and lying down...

Since you have said about fatty liver means, ultrasonography and/or CT scan must have been done. Please post reports and let me know when was this done > before or after the pain started....

This also means you have pain in the liver area- the right upper abdominal area which needed the pain killer and lying down.
The most probable causes area:
Gall bladder stones and/or inflammation
Liver swelling due to inflammation
Colitis on the right side particularly of the hepatic flexture area
Duodenal ulceration
Pancreatitis

This can be well diagnosed by:
Clinical evaluation and examination, preferably by a General Surgeon.
Preliminary ultrasonography of the abdomen, CT scan/MRCP if needed
Upper GI Endoscopy if suspected acidity related problems.
Tests of blood: CBC, liver functions, amylase, lipase and as indicated by clinical evaluation and other investigations.

The management can be done better and specific only after proper diagnosis by the means as described above.

Fatty liver alone never cause any pains as you have described.

I hope this answer helps you to get an early and proper diagnosis and management.
Feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
