Suggest Treatment For Fever, Body Pain And Headache

Better if you give paracetamol
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Fever should be managed initially with paracetamol as it is the safest antipyretic with minimal side effects.
Fever with headache and body ache can be due to various causes.Ibuprofen causes platelet dysfunction.Any condition causing fever with low platelet will be further aggravated by ibuprofen.Sp better it should be avoided. The dose of ibuprofen is 10 mg/kg/dose.Most of the syrup contains 100 mg/5 ml.The average weight of a 4 year 9 month old child is about 16-18 kg.So for this age a dose of 7.5-8ml will be sufficient. You can reapwat the medication every 8 hourly.
In fever (irrespective of the cause of fever) it is always better to treat with paracetamol.
The dose of paracetamol is 10-15 mg/kg/dose.Most of the syrup contains 125 or 250 mg/5 ml.So 5 ml dose of paracetamol with a strength of 250 mg/5 ml will be sufficient. You can repeat the dose every 6-8 hourly.
Tepid water sponging is a very good home remedy to bring down the temperature.
Please consult your physician to find out the cause of fever so that it can be managed properly.
I hope this helps.
If you have any more query I shall be glad to answer.
Wishing for your child's speedy recovery.
Regards

Most of the time fever is the only initial symptom some viral infection.
Cough, cold, loose stool or other symptoms of infection may come up in next 2-3 days.
Sometimes urinary tract infection can presents with high grade fever.
I would like to know if there are other symptoms like burning micturition, cough, cold, abdominal pain or loose stool to localise the infection.
If there are no such symptoms observe the child. Also monitor the temperature pattern. In most of the viral fever, temperature starts declining after 3-4 days.
If the temperature remains high after 3-4 days or there is appearance of any new symptom please get her evaluated by a physician.
