Suggest Treatment For Fever, Fogginess In Head, Dizziness And Stuffy Sinus

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: I have been feeling ill for at least a week. Had some type of a virus two weeks ago and ran fever for only a day. Laid low for a day then resumed normal activities. But can't seem to get over this. Or can't figure out what it is. Head is so foggy that an Advil didn't make a dent. Almost feel dizzy. Waking up very early. Sinuses slightly stuffy on one side when waking but then clear for rest of day. Sinuses sting alittle. Biggest concern is how I start sweating when I fall asleep and how ill and foggy brained I feel when I wake up. Am sweaty too sometimes when waking. Temps have been low early morning and late night when I take my temp down to 96.7 yesterday and my BP is around 134 over 78 range. I did have a bacterial infection four months vaginally and have a slight discharge again. Have been under a lot of stress and had major dental work several months ago replacing 7 tooth bridge and bite realignment. Just so foggy headed and dull. Any direction you can point me? Seeing doc on Monday. Am female 58 years old.

Brief Answer:
Suspecting viral fever, bed rest and antipyretics required

Detailed Answer:
Hi Ms. XXXX,

Welcome to health care magic.

I have gone through your query and based on the details mentioned in your query, I am suspecting viral fever.

Viral fever is usually associated with generalized myalgia and weakness.

The best treatment for this kind of fever is to sleep it off.

Bed rest and antipyretics three times daily for three days will suffice.

Steam inhalation in the morning will improve the drainage of sinuses and will relieve the stuffiness.

Please take a fluid diet and drink sufficient water to maintain hydration of your body.

There is no requirement for any other medications.

I hope I have helped to clear your doubts.

Please get back if any more queries.

Thanks.

What are antipyretics? Do they require a doctors excuse?

Brief Answer:
Antipyretics are drugs used to reduce fever and pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi Ms. XXXX,

Welcome back.

Antipyretics are drugs that help reduce fever and body pain.

You can get them over the counter. You do not need a doctors prescription.

Tab Sinarest would be a good choice.

It is a combination medicine of acetaminophen, chlorpheniramine, and pseudoephedrine used to treat headache, fever, body aches, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and sinus congestion caused by allergies, the common cold, or the flu.

Please do not hesitate to get back if any more queries.

Thanks.
