Question : Hi doctor, my son has cold for the past 1weeks. Before this last month he was suffering from fever for 4 days along with which he had urine infection. We have colpol for fever and was on cpodem 100 for 3 days. Post that he had mild cold for which I did not give any medicine for. Last week after having an ice cream his cold increased so we took him to an pediatrician he suggested histafree syrup 2 times a day for 7 days. His running nose stopped but. When he blows cold still comes and when he coughs slight cold sound comes. But he does not have chest congestion which I checked in a near by cleaning. Today he complaint of throat ache, I have give him azithral kidtab 100 mg. Is it OK to continue the dose for 3 days or shall I stop

                                    Brief Answer:
Please continue Azithral
Detailed Answer:
Hi....by what you quote it looks like viral illness only. But it could as well be streptococcal sore throat too. Having started Azithral I suggest you give it for 3 days.
I suggest you get a rapid streptococcal antigen testing done in your nearest pediatric clinic along with a throat swab culture. If these are positive you need to give Azithral for a total of 7 days please.

Yiu need to give Azithral 200mg
Detailed Answer:
Hi....you need to give Azithral 200mg tablet once daily for 3-7 days based on reports.
You need to give it 1 hour before food or 4 hours after food, because food will decrease its absorption.
