
Suggest Treatment For Fever, Sore Throat And Sever Tonsilitis

Question: My grandson aged 19 has a fever of 100 degrees due to a sore throat and sever tonsilitis. He is due to have them removed early in December. i have given him aspirin - had him gargle with listirine - He has eaten chicken and noodles and some ice cream and I am making him drink a lot of water. He is still very uncomfortable.What can I do to make him more comfortable. He says his head is very warm. My e-mail is XXXX. Thank you for any advice you can give.

Things to be done...
Avoid cold drinks
Drink plenty of hot liquids
Do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day
Take paracetamol for bodyache or fever. You can take it every six hours if needed.
Since sore throat is generally a viral infection,there is no need for any antibiotic.
Hopefully everything should settle soon in next 3-4 days.
