Question : I'm so embarrassed to ask this question but I discovered what it looked a sort of a pimple right on top of a vein in my penis about 2 weeks ago. It hasn't gone away and nothing has come out of it. I can hold it thru my skin and it feels like there would be something inside to pop but I'm afraid to do it. There is nothing else anywhere else in my penis or around that area. Could this be herpes ? I apologize for the picture.

Brief Answer:
Looks like a boil or folliculitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query and picture. It looks like a boil or folliculitis. As it is solitary not likely to be herpes. Herpes usually present as fluid filled rashes with associated pain, itching and burning sensation.

Do you had any unprotected sex with any risky partner recently?
In such case you can go for VDRL test to rule out syphilis.

Applying betadine ointment locally on the boil will be helpful.

Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

So could this be syphilis ? I did have oral unprotected sex (receiving ) with a new partner recently. However, i don't consider her a risk. She seems very healthy and has no marks or noticible issues of her body. I'm concerned now. Shoud I ?

Explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for your follow up.

Syphilitic chancre presented as firm painless non itchy lesion. Syphilis carrier can look healthy also. In such case you can go to dermatologist to confirm it. It will be cleared with a week therapy with antibiotic Doxycycline.

If it is puss filled one then nothing to worry and such case it can be most likely folliculitis. Betadine ointment application will help also.

Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Yes, syphilis is curable.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for your follow up query.

Syphilis is curable. Once properly treated it will be completely out of system and it won't come back. A week therapy with doxycycline or a single shot of penicillin G is enough for it.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
