Question : I have had gout before and I'm having attack of it in my heel now , it started Monday morning ,l got up with my foot sore for no reason. Tuesday it was still sore and little worse .wednesday I couldn't put pressure on it and it was still sore. This morning it's still sore , the pain has moved from the back of my heel to bottom now it's on the left side.

An acute gout attack is treated with the following options: (1) NSAIDS- treatment of choice- includes meds such as naproxen, indomethacin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen
These are given at full strength for at least 3 to 5 days.
(2) the colchicine
(3) oral or injectable steroids: if involves a large joint, an injection can be used if nsaids or colchicine cannot be used for some reason or not responding
You can continue colchicine but you should add an NSAID (unless you have issues with reflux).
The above NSAIDS are available over the counter.
