Suggest Treatment For Frequent Annoying Headaches

Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: I have been dealing with headaches for the last month, mostly at work. I started a new job at that time, and I am spending more time in front of the computer and at a desk. The headaches don't effect working out, sleeping, or other activities. The headaches are more annoying than painful.

Brief Answer:
Tension type headache

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I am sorry about the symptoms you are experiencing.

The description of your symptoms is compatible with tension type headache. It is the most common primary headache (primary meaning without any identifiable cause). It is usually triggered by stress and anxiety which explains the beginning at the time of starting a new job. Usually relaxation exercises and over the counter antiinflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen do help.

Other possibilities....one other possibility is cervical spine changes with some increased muscle tension triggered by having to stay seated for prolonged periods. Management remains similar, Ibuprofen and taking a 5-10 min pause every couple of hours or whenever you can.
One last possibility, issues with eyesight can lead to strain and scalp muscle tension causing headache. In that case a visit by ophthalmologist and prescription glasses should help.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.

Read below

Detailed Answer:
That's a good question.

Such signs might be progressively growing intensity with vomiting, weakness or numbness of the limbs on one side of the body, behavior changes or confusion, lack of balance and coordination, seizures, double vision or restriction of the visual field. Such manifestations would prompt evaluation for a brain lesion.

I hope to have been of help.
