Suggest Treatment For Frequent Cold, Sneezing And Heavy Headedness

Nasal endoscopy, Sinus CT, Medication
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Since this is a chronic issue, get a nasal examination and endoscopy done. A plain (non contrast) Sinus CT will also reveal if the heaviness in the head is due to chronic sinusitis.
2. A chronic post nasal drip (due to chronic sinusitis) will lead to the normal lymphoid tissue in the throat being infected and inflamed. This makes the throat sensitive.
3. Antibiotics will not help in allergy and will only reduce secondary bacterial infections. However viral and fungal infections will not responds and may even flare up.
4. Request a two week trail with a non-sedating anti-histamine (such as fexofenadine), an anti-leukotriene (such as montelukast), a steroid nasal spray (such as fluticasone or mometasone) and regular steam inhalation. If the medication helps, continue and taper off over a few months.
5. If the above medication fails, further surgical treatment options may be discussed along with uploaded CT images.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any follow up queries, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
