Question: HI, our is is a few days away from 6 months old and weights only 13 pounds, and has a head circumference of 16.6 in" and length of 26.5" inches, can you tell me what percentiles they are?

As far as food he is getting ~28 oz. daily of the 20 cal milk plus 42ml powder per day PLUS two tablespoons of oatmeal, how many calories is that per his needs? How many calories is 2 tablespoons of oatmeal?

An issue he is having is that he is pooping 2-3 times a day and they are all pretty big poops, so I think thats a reason he isn't gaining weight, any suggestions?

He is taking nexium twice a day and zantac once a day

Brief Answer:
Could be a viral diarrhea - weight is less than 5th centile

Detailed Answer:
Hi....I understand your concern.

Coming to your queries directly -

1. The weight is less than 5th centile. Head circumference is between 5-10th centile. Length is between 25-50th centile.

2. He should be getting 650-700 calorie per day.

3. He is not getting adequate calories. That is reflected in his weight. But good news is that the length is normal, which means...he's not having any major problem.

4.100 Grams of oat meal gives 68 calories.

5. This looks like viral diarrhea. Once it starts it will take 5-7 days to completely get better. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
