Question : My mother is 86 her Dr wants her to have a pessary put in to hold her bladder up. It doesnt sound very safe at her age. She would have to go back every 3 months and have it changed her Dr said. what is your suggestion

But there is possibility of complications at this age due to which surgery is avoided.

Pessary is next logical treatment for the prolapse.

It is safe and she will tolerate well at this age.

In future, the prolapse will increase and she might have difficulty in passing urine.

You can consider pessary at later stage is she has no problem now with passing urine.
