Suggest Treatment For Friction Dermatitis

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: hello, last week I sent a question to you & your diagnosis was Bacterial Folliculitis. I have been taking Cephalexin 500 mg 2x a day for about 3 days.
it certainly has helped, and has not gotten worse thats for sure. it hasn't completely gone away either. have I not given it enough time? attached is a picture of 1 area (its on a total of 2 areas) it sometimes itches, but isn't that a sign of healing? it doesn't itch bad or anything just sometimes itches. there have been no more pus filled bumps but I still have the areas like the picture. Please advise

Brief Answer:
intertrigo,combination cream will work.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

As seen on photograph rash has dried up.Scabs are formed. However dose of cephalexin need to continue for 5 to 7 days for complete cure.

At times such rashes are mixed infections with fungal like candida and friction dermatitis. This is known as intertrigo.

A combination of antifungal and mild steroid at night time will help in reliving itching.Applying antifungal powder at day time will prevent recurrence. You need to continue powder even if there is no rash.

Hope this will help you.In case of any concerns I will be happy to help you.Take care.
