Suggest Treatment For Fungal Infection Caused By UTI

Posted on Fri, 29 Jan 2016
Question: I'm dealing with a rare condition that I feel could potentially kill me. after seeing 6 specialists
and had 3 biopsies, noone can figure this out. after researching this myself, I figured out what it could possibly be and tricked the dr into into giving me meds I felt like I needed. by using a different reason why I needed it. after a week, the symptoms got better. I knew it wasn't going to enough to kill this fungus in my bladder but now I know what I'm dealing with. I told my dr about what I did and he found it interesting but wasn't doing anything to help me really.
I've
been to 6 different urologist and have had 3
different biopsies and tests were normal. Noone is hearing me. I'm afraid that this will kill me if not treated but how do I get them to listen?

Brief Answer:
Antifungal treatment should be initiated based on evidence

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

The fungus or fungal infection that you are suspecting must have some symptoms and positive findings on the investigations. What area was biopsies specifically. If appropriate, Kindly upload your lab results to have a better idea. Based alone on suspicion long term antifungal therapy can be counter productive. Have you ever been catheterization or have frequent UTI or are suffering from or have suffered any chronic illness such as malignancy or HIV or chronic renal failure. These are possible predispositions to developing such a fungal growth.

I've had complete removal 2 time and it

grew back the next day. the stuff in the toilet is what I pass everyday from my bladder. every dr I've seen can't figure this out. they have never seen anything like it. I was pretty healthy before this started happening to me. it's not cancer, endometriosis, IC, squamous metaplasia, yeast or every other test my dr could think to run on it. I've had a cystoscopy several time and he is speechless. the antifungal is the only thing that help reduce the growth. blood tests have been normal as well. my dr is baffled.. but he has given up on me because he can't figure it out. please help me

Brief Answer:
EXPLAINED

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Only the urine examination was able to upload successfully. Based on that report there does not appear to be any significant pathology. If there was no growth visualised on cystoscopy then it's unlikely that there was any growth in the first place. If the biopsy also revealed no malignant changes then it's even more likely that there is a functional pathology than an anatomically significant growth. The fact that multiple urologist have also not been able to determine the cause also points to the same. Cystometric studies would be a good option as the next step in consult with your doctor.

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

The cystoscopy pictures that uploaded are insufficient to conclude a mass. The report would have clearly made a note of such mass and the biopsy would have been done there at the same time.

Fungal culture can be advised with negative growth on urine culture. The flakes or threads that you are observing in your urine should be collected and sampled and examined accordingly. Parasitic cause should also be assessed for.

However, with negative cultures, no fever or leukocytosis (high white count) or leucopenia (low white count), the condition is unlikely to be life threatening. Try to relax and consult your urologist for the above mentioned options.
