Suggest Treatment For Fungal Infection In The Groin Area Despite Taking Ketoconazole

Question : I have fungus on my inner thigh between the scrotum and thigh that has not healed a dermatologist did a biopsy no problem was told to wash with a mild cleanser and put Vaseline on it and cover with gauze. I took an antibiotic for two weeks and following directions cleansing the would twice daily using Cetaphil cleanser and now putting Ketoconazole 2% cream on it but still no healing only on one edge and then the skin turning white and died. No pain and does not drain only will start itching badly late night also with this cream have a green pus looking discharge occasionally .

Hi,

This is really not suggestive of fungal infection. I will rather concentrate on treating this wound. Cleansing regularly with an antiseptic would do. Also, keep airy and dry by avoiding thick and tight under wears as this causes sweating, itching and delayed wound healing. I will recommend betadine/cetaphil for this.

If I were your physician, I will certainly stop applying antifungal creams such as ketoconazole at this time.
