Brief Answer:
I suggest topical as well as Oral antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone trough your query and I have understood it.

It would have been good if you would have also uploaded an Image of the affected area for review.

Fungal infections usually present with itching and scaling patches.
These patches are annular or round, have red, raised and scaly margins and show central clearing.

A KOH wet preparation made from a small amount of scale scraped from the surface of lesion and looked up under the microscope for fungal elements/ hyphae would be confirmatory.

If I were the treating doctor I would have suggested you Oral as well as Topical antifungals.
Oral antifungals together with topical antifungals are better able to take control of fungal infection/tinea, particularly if it is extensive.

The oral antifungals that are commonly used for superficial fungal infections/ tinea are either weekly fluconazole or once daily terbinafine. Oral antifungals are prescription drugs.

Rather than using OTC poducts I would have started you on specific topical antifungals like either topical clotrimazole, sertaconazole, luliconazole Or bifonazole.
Clotrimazole is available OTC whereas other antifungals are available only on prescription.

Both Topical as well as Oral treatment should be continued for 4-6 weeks. Partial or incomplete treatment would encourage relapse of infection.

I suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as appropriate treatment.

An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
