Question: Hi Doctor,

My wife is having stones in gall bladder and we are planning her surgery on coming Saturday (1st August).
She has developed an eye stye 3 days back and it is paining as of now. Do you feel that could create any issues in surgery or the surgeon/anesthetist may deny operating her due to eye stye infection?

Brief Answer:
May settle by tomorrow, consult your operating Surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read and understood the problem of planned surgery of gall bladder removal on 1st Aug and development of a stye.
Since the stye is developed 3 days back, it is expected to get opened up or settle soon.
Ideally it should not cause any issue with the Surgery or anesthesia.
Usually the stye settled or opens within 3 t o 4 days. It is possible that it may drain tomorrow and settles very fast.
I would advise you to consult your Surgeon today to tomorrow and follow his advise.
Simply removing a hair (of eyelash) from the center of the stye with hot fomentation settles stye.

I hope this answer helps you.
Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
