Brief Answer:
Surgery is the therapy of choice for gall stones
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on XXXXXXX
Gall bladder stones are treated by cholecystectomy.
Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the stones containing gall bladder.
The surgery can be open surgery or laparoscopic surgery.
In laparoscopic surgery (telescopic surgery), the incisions given on the abdomen are very small as compared to that given in open surgery.
The laparoscopic surgery is cosmetically better but it is only suited when stones are present in the gall bladder.
If stones are present in the common bile duct, this procedure is not suitable.
This is made out on imaging studies before surgery.
Further you need to consult your surgeon for more details and investigations required before surgery.
If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
