Suggest Treatment For Gastritis With Severe Abdominal Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Apr 2016
Question: I am suffering from gastritis with severe abdominal pain. I have suffered from this problem one year ago and took omeprazole for one month and i was fine until 5 months and it is back again. So i consulted a doctor again who asked to me undergo endoscopy and was diagnosed with Hyperemia in the antrum.I took nexium and normaxin for 3 months and i was fine for 4 months. Now it is back.My other medical conditions include Pcos and sinusitis.I take diane 35 and metamorphin for PCOS.I neither smoke nor drink alcohol. It has been a chronic health condition since my childhood.I am a premature twin child born when i am 7 months old.I have stopped eating junk food long back.I don't drink carbonated water as i came to know it triggers my condition.
My condition worsens when i eat any food that contains wheat sometimes.Earlier i used to skip my breakfast frequently for about 2 years because of my schedule.I don't have proper sleep.I usually wake up midnights and it takes some time for going back to sleep.Any suggestions about food intake like citrus fruits, vegetables or lentils that might trigger my condition would be greatly appreciated.
And regarding Nexium i was told that it has side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating etc. Would you suggest continuing Nexium for a few more days?
And regarding allergies, I vomit when i take iron syrup, which was suggested as my blood number was low earlier in my childhood.

Brief Answer:
Stop existing medications, regularize food habits, exercise and yoga.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing in HCM.
From the description which you have given it appears to be a case of stress induced gastritis.
Your endoscopy report is reassuring and there is nothing to worry.
I would advise the following.
Stop all medications.
Regularize your dietary timings as well as the nature of the diet.
Avoid citrus fruits/ fried / spicy food items.
Eat bananas and cucumber at each meal. They are natural antacids.
Instead of antacid tablets start a coating agent such as sucralfate in the dose of one tablespoon three times a day after meals.
Exercise regularly and start yoga if possible.
I am sure you will get relief with these measures.
Regards
