Suggest Treatment For Gastritis

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Dec 2014
Question: I am very distressed. I haven't been able to eat all day and hardly at all yesterday either. I've had symptoms of a stomach ulcer the past two days and because of my phobia of being sick I can't help but avoid eating and drinking. just sipping water sets off my stomach and I start to feel the pain again. Should I go to hospital to he fed through a tube?

Brief Answer:
You should see your Doctor & take acidity medicine

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
You should see a Doctor and get examined.

It would most probably be Gastritis but to know exactly what it is you will need to undergo an Ultrasound and an Upper GI Endoscopy where they put a tube in your mouth to see your food pipe and stomach from inside. You should undergo the Endoscopy but first you should try medicines that decrease stomach acid production. You can take either Omeprazole or Pantoprazole. If you are not able to tolerate it orally then you would require an injection of the same medicine. But it should be taken empty stomach.

You can also have Sucralfate solution which covers the ulcer base and the pain decreases.
So, I suggest you see your Doctor and start these medicines. If it does not get relieved then you undergo the investigations as advised.

Take care and do let me know if I can extend any further advice.
