I have been having chest pains for the last 3 weeks been to EK twice and they ran chest Xray and EKG all normal (which means nothing to diagnose heart disease. all my labs were normal up until two days ago been feeling faint, dizzy and vomiting no stomach pain. I went back to ER all test were normal except they mentioned my c02 levels were alittle abmormal but not a cause for concern the DR said. and they ran another ekg. In addition I called the cardiologist this morning after my consult to let him know I went to ER he rused a EchoStress test for Monday. Should I be concerned with Heart failure or disease. I don't have a family history as I know of on my moms side of problems nor do I have high blood pressure or diabetes. I am freaking out about my test on Monday. I don't know what to do. please help

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query.

I think, you have generalized anxiety disorder with panic attack. Let me explain you what is generalized anxiety disorder. It is a psychological disorder which is characterized by anxiety attacks, chest pain, palpitation, tingling sensation etc. All investigations including ECHO come normal in GAD.

In that case, you need psychiatrist help. You need few antidepressant like paroxetine or escitalopram along with low dose benzodiazepine. These drugs would help to control anxiety symptoms. You can also try some relaxation exercise.

In case, you need further help, you can ask.

Brief Answer:
You can try some antidepressant

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I am a psychiatrist and i have seen number of cases of GAD. In GAD, ECHO test comes normal and there is nothing to worry about that. GAD is a psychological disorder and our body symptoms like palpitation or chest pain also depends upon our thoughts. Suppose, if you have anxiety and due to anxiety, you have increased heart beat, then chest pain which happens due to that, would be due to psychological reason rather than cardiac. Same thing is happening in your case. Just take antidepressant with benzodiazepine. That would help to control these symptoms. Try to consult a psychiatrist too.

If you have more query, you can ask.
