Brief Answer:
Needs clinical evaluation and investigations to have proper management

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/85 - diabetic - think of an abscess near anus - using warm towels, Neosporin - and wants to know whether you can take care of it on your own - and if so what to do....

My thoughts:
If you suspect there to be a peri-anal abscess, there must be a swelling, pain, difficult in passing bowel movement.

Please give detailed history:
Since when is the problem present? The Duration?
Give detailed history about size, shape, redness over the skin,.
Symptoms?
Recent blood sugar level?

I would advise you the following:
Sitz bath in a tub with warm water helps better than warm towels.
Laxatives to keep stool soft so that evacuation of bowel becomes less painful.
Clinical evaluation by a Doctor, preferably a General Surgeon to get a clinical diagnosis, advise you further investigations and plan a management which may contain:
Antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory medicine with pain killer property like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
If an abscess is present, it is better to get lanced that is incised, drained, cleaned and dressed.
In view of known diabetes, it is better to get the blood sugar monitoring, adjustments of the medicines as required to keep blood sugar levels normal.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, noted the practical problem of getting out of bath tub - please continue warm towel.
It is better to apply Liquid Povidone iodine to keep the area sterile.
7 days is a long time to suffer, it is better to get a clinical evaluation and other things as discussed above.
Nice to know the diabetes is well under control.
