Posted on Thu, 12 Oct 2017
Question: hello, I just came out of the shower and while showering I felt what seems like cysts around the rectum. it felt like there are 3 of them. they do not hurt. it does not burn when I have a bowel movement. there is no blood. I have felt really small ones before that I thought were maybe skin tags. these feel big. they are squishy. this is the first time I noticed them to be this big. I have not felt them getting bigger. I have always felt 1 or 2 but they have always been small. like I said they felt like skin tags. Do you know what this could be.

Brief Answer:
Most possible genital warts.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

What you are describing seems like genital warts or called also condyloma.
If you have been sexually active and have had unprotected sexual relationships or anal relationships the last year then it is one of the most possible diagnoses.

It can also be hemorrhoids but those would be painful and also cause small bleeding after a constipated bowel movement.

My advise is that you consider a rectal exam at the local doctor who can have a look at them and confirm the diagnoses and prescribe a treatment. You can also upload a photo here so I can have a look too if you wish, but the medicines you may need are very specific and you will most probably need a prescription.

Hope this is helpful.

Brief Answer:
A family doctor can examine you too if they perform gynecological exams.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the follow up question.

Sometimes hemorrhoids appear even when you are not constipated but you have been before, or have a sedentary life, or have a chronic cough, ect.
If you have been and are not sexually active, then it is less likely to be genital warts, but anyway a gynecological check up would rule that out.

You can see either a family doctor (if they perform gynecological exams) or a gynecologist or a proctologist (who is a doctor who specializes especially for hemorrhoids).

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
