Question : Hello my sister is in her 22nd week of pregnancy and
she has gestational diabetes. She is vegetarian and takes milk products. what should be her diet? what other precaution should she take?

I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
The diet should be as follows:
7 AM- Tea/ milk with 2 XXXXXXX biscuits
9AM- 2 chapati/ 3 toasts/ poha
11 AM- A cup of sprouts/ fruit like apple/ pear
1 PM- 2 chapati, vegetables, 1 cup daal, half plate rice, 1 cup curd
3-4 PM- seasonal fruit/ mathri/ Dattu
5 PM- 1 cup tea with 2 XXXXXXX biscuits
8 PM- Dinner as in lunch, can alter daal or curd
10PM- 200 ml of milk.
Avoid sugar and bakery products, mangoes, banana, aerated drinks and fruit juices.

Thanks a lot. should the milk be low fat milk? Also what precaution should be taken during and post delivery?

During delivery, sugar monitoring should be done in pregnancy.
Delivery should be conducted in a tertiary care institute.
Post pregnancy, sugar monitoring should be done for 2-3 days.
Levels of fasting and post prandial blood sugars should be measured 6 weeks after delivery.
