Suggest Treatment For Groin Pain When Diagnosed With Hernia

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jan 2017
Question: Do I get a second request? If so I have a hernia in the left groin and it bothers me maybe once every 2 months. Had it for 18 months. Yesterday U had shooting pains in that area for 3 hours. I applied pressure and felt something/intestine move back in to to my groin and pain stopped. Today In fine but concerned it will come back. Any recommendations. Operation, let it rest etc. when and if repaired should they cut to repair or repair with a few small holes?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Visit a surgeon. Do not ignore.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Hernia occurs only through specific points of vulnerabilities where the anatomical supports are not very strong. If hernia occurs, surgical intervention, possibly with mesh reinforcement should take care of the issue and recurrence is unlikely.

As of now you need to stop lifting weights or doing activities like coughing which increase the intraabdominal pressure. You should visit a surgeon, get it evaluated and operated to avoid development of strangulation of the hernia. Laparoscopic surgery (with few holes) would not be possible and an open surgery would possibly be needed.

Do not ignore or delay.

Regards
