Question : Hi doctor, hope u well. I have a question, my friend is 23 years old and had a baby in january. Before she gave birth she had a small lump in her breast but didn't pay much attention to it. Recently, the lump has grown. i have attached picture and the doctor note. they have advised she get it removed. please advice. the doctors here are not all great and she would have to fly to south XXXXXXX for further tests and if need be get it removed there. she's scared as it could be cancerous in the long run, hence feels removal would be vital. What would you recommend? And it is painful for her

Brief Answer:
Fibroadenoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
I have reviewed the reports.
The lump in the breast most likely a fibroadenoma.
Fibroadenoma is a benign lesion of the breast, which arises due to hormonal changes.
It enlarges in pregnancy as well as during breastfeeding.
It is painful, especially in premenstrual period.
Excision of the fibroadenoma is the appropriate treatment, and this procedure is short and the post operative period is generally uneventful.
Chances of conversion of a fibroadenoma into cancer are almost nil.
She should not worry.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
