Brief Answer:
Stop minoxidil for few days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again thanks for posting the good resolution pictures.

After analyzing the pictures with diligence I can make out that you have the problem of “Alopecia areata” which is resolving now.

To tell you simply about your problem: Alopecia areata is a locally present transient autoimmune condition. In this condition due to formation of antibodies to the hair roots, there is temporary damage to the hair roots.

These antibodies persist for few weeks to few months of period. As soon as the antibodies are getting down by self or by medications the hair growth again reverts to normal.

On examination of the pictures, the areas are showing activity of hair growth which is a very good sign in terms of hair growth and therefore is a good prognosis.

To improve the hair growth in my patients I prefer to use Desonide cream/lotion (which is one of the mildest of steroid application) to reduce the autoimmunity and minoxidil 2% lotion for fast growth.

your dermatologist has given a proper treatment but I can make out that you have applied the minoxidil lotion on higher side.

In my patients with your kind of situation I suggest them to apply just less than a drop of minoxidil lotion with an ear bud only. This helps out in preventing high amount irritation the skin. A slightly high amount can cause irritation and flaking resultant more hair fall.

In your kind of cases of irritation I prefer to stop the minoxiidl for few days to week period, so that the effect of minoxidl can be reduced to minimum. Till that time I suggest to apply desonide lotion only.

On restarting minoxidil it is to be applied with a ear bud in such a amount that it should not be visible to the naked eye and not draping on the non affected skin.

Do eat a good protein and mineral with vitamin diet in form of milk products, fruits and green leafy vegetables to help and improve internally.

I hope these information's will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

"Wish you good health"

Regards,
