Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query.

Dandruff Or Seborrheic Dermatitis is a common cause of increased hair shedding. Controlling dandruff effectively would control excessive hair fall too.

If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to use an antifungal shampoo, daily or every alternate days.
Various antifungal agents (e.g ketoconazole, sertaconazole, ciclopirox olamine, piroctone olamine) are available either as shampoo or as overnight leave-on lotions, for dandruff.

Nizoral shampoo contains 2% ketoconazole. It is available OTC.

However, in some cases shampoo alone may not be totally effective. In such cases, along with the antidandruff shampoo, I usually ask my patients to use a topical steroid lotion (Mometasone furoate Or Clobetasole propionate lotion) once daily at night for a short period of 2 weeks Or i might switch them to an overnight leave-on antidandruff preparation.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a steroid responsive condition, therefore, topical steroids are usually effective in this condition.
A two weeks course of topical steroids brings about remarkable improvement, which can then be maintained with just an anti-dandruff shampoo, every alternate days.

You may try Nizoral shampoo for 2 weeks. This alone may prove to be sufficient in your case. Nizoral is an OTC product whereas topical steroid lotions are prescription products.

However, if Nizoral proves insufficient you may visit a dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist may want to switch to a different antifungal shampoo Or choose to prescribe an overnight leave-on antidandruff lotion.
Your dermatologist might also choose to prescribe a topical steroid lotion for a short duration of 2-4 weeks.

Brief Answer:
Visit a dermatologist in vicinity

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Dear User, the ingredients that I had suggested above are prescription products. It would be unethical on my part to prescribe you the brand names of the medicines on this forum, because actually I have not had the opportunity to examine you. I can only provide you the generic names via this forum.

Shampoo that you have already tried are available OTC (Over the counter) preparation. They are not as effective as prescription antidandruff ingredients that I had suggested above.
Various antifungal ingredients (e.g ketoconazole, sertaconazole, ciclopirox olamine, piroctone olamine) are formulated as shampoo for treatment of dandruff and are available only on prescription of a dermatologist.

Overnight lotions that are available contain either sertaconazole Or Piroctone olamine and Climbazole.

My job here is to give you treatment options (generic names) and give you pointers in the right directions, so that you are benefited from the information I provide.

A visual assessment is the best way to judge before we can prescribe medicines.

A dermatologist in your region would be able to examine you in person and would be in a better position to prescribe you the brand names.

Please go through the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Regards
