Question : im a 73-year-old male. last night i strained a hamstring stepping quickly onto a high sidewalk curb after wiring a cab. i can stand and walk ok but have acute pain trying to bend down and need something to hold onto getting up from a sitting or lying down position.
Brief Answer:
Muscle tear likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The acute pain while getting up from sitting position can be due to a minor tear in the hamstring muscles. Giving rest to the muscle will help in healing. Avoid all painful movements.
It is best to wrap an elastic bandage around the painful area for support. In case there is a visible swelling or bruise in the area then do consult your physician.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
