Question : Hi i have a large hard and painful lump sort of near my anus. I have had hemerroids before but thiis mass is fairly large and is more off to the side and above the anus not around the hole. It is not bleeding and no signs of any discharge but since last night it is becoming more painful and appears to be turning a slight purplish red color. I tried prepration H but that did nothing. i have had no strainful bowel movments and thought maybe it was an ingrown hair but could not find anything.

Good morning. It has changed since last night. It now oozed alot of puss and went diown in size dramatically. After the puss came out now its bleeding slightly bright red and the pain is subsiding. Area now looks like a small sore. Tried to take pic but its in a area that i could not get a good pic of. Should i still see a doctor since the pain is going away?

                                    Brief Answer:
Hot Seitz bath will be helpful
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms
As the pus has drained there should be dramatic improvement in symptoms. I would also suggest you the following
1 . Hot Seitz bath : To a tub of lukewarm water add 2 spoon of antiseptic solution. Sit in it immersing your bottom for 15 to 20 minutes each session twice a day.
This should help in adequate drainage of pus and also relieve pain.
2. After bath clean and dry the area thoroughly and apply local topical antibiotic ointment.
3. Analgesic like Ibuprofen will be helpful
4. Course of antibiotic for 5 days
If the discharge or symptoms persists even after 48 hours then do consult your Physician for further assessment.
Take care
