Question : I have a hard, unmovable lump below on sternum. Basucally on my xiphoid. Its about 2 x 1 1/2 centimeters large. It is a bit tender if pressed on, but otherwise causes no pain. Ive had it about 3 months now. I went to see a doctor a couple months back about it, and after looking at it for a while and fighting with insurance to get a CT scan done, he determined that it did not seem to be getting larger so it would probably go away on its own. It hasnt, nor has it decreased in suze. I have made another doctor's sppointment, but now I am pretty scared that it may be sometjing serious. Do you have sny idea what it may be?

Brief Answer:
Fibroma

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Hard, immobile lump below the sterum and partially tender is most likely to be a fibroma. Most often fibromas are benign and do not cause any problem.
I request you to get a fine needle aspiration and cytology ( FNAC) of the lump done if you are unable to get a CT scan done. It will not be expensive so you can self fund as well. FNAC will tell us exactly what lump it is.
Please approach your doctor with my suggestion

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

I am seeing a doctor again on Wedenesday and we will see wgat options i have. I just also have a pretty severe panic disorder, so I have a hard time waiting when i think sonething might be serious like this. Additional details, if they help, the lump is not visible (unless i push down the skin around it) but is obviously palpable, if i feel around for it.

Hello

Thanks for getting back

If the size of the lump is not increasing in size then I dont think you need to panic at the moment. If you are not able to get a CT scan try getting an ultrasound atleast
