Question: I am 45 years old now I am facing heart burn past 25 days I take endoscopy they find out erosive Gastritis they give panacid 40 mg bd 15 days, Rantac 300 mg od, now heart burn was reduced little bit no other problem now. I am taking other medicines Concor 5 mg od, Rosart 5mg od. Now my food intake is curd rice, cocount milk, cow milk, banana only.
My question is weather it is curable because many people say erosive convert in to cancer so my entire family will panic. what type of foods I will take? weather any addition medicine I will take? any pre-caution measure will take? I will consult Surgical gastroenterologist, Cardioligst every year, blood test was taken every 3 months? Last 3 years two time endoscopy done first it shows erithmatic, now erosive. I am non smoker, non alholic & no bad habbits. kindly given clear prescriptions
Shall I continue the medicines?

Brief Answer:
don't worry about cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through the details that you have provided.
Regarding your queries about of cure of GERD.
60 percent of people need either intermittent or continuous medications.
All types if GERD do not progress to cancer. In case you have developed Barrett's esophagus then there is a risk of cancer. Since you do not have Barrett's esophagos on endoscopy you should not worry about cancer.
You should avoid
Citrus fruits, chocolate and mint flavours, carbonated drinks, red meat, alcohol, smoking, deep fried foods.
Limit tea or coffee to less than 3 cups per day.
Get regular exercise at least 30 to 40 minutes of walk every day.
Avoid lying down for at least 3 hours after meals.
You do not need any additional medications.
I would advise to continue pantoprazole for at least 8 weeks and then reduce the dose to once a day and continue for another month.
In case you develop recurrent symptoms. After stopping medications. You might to take pantoprazole on a regular basis for a long time
Hope this helps

continue pantoprazole

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
There doesn't seem to be any significant abnormaliry in your lab reports.
You should continue pantoprazole 40 twice a day for at least 2 months followed by40 mg once a say for 2 months more.
You should avoid all the foods I have mentioned above. And take small frequent meals.
There are no particular products which will help.

Brief Answer:
won't have problems in other organs

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. There are no common side effects. Osteoporosis has been reported after several years of pantoprazole use but it not an alarming condition.
You won't face problems in other organs because of gastritis.
You can take a fibre supplement in case you have to strain while passing stools.
Please continue the diet as advised.
Be assured the medical condition is not a serious one and can be cured or controlled in majority instances.
Hope this helps
