Question : I have been having heart palpitations for the last 3-4 weeks w increased BP - 130/90. I had similar symptoms 2.5 years ago. After stress test, echo and 24 hr halter, cardiologist found nothing wrong with my heart. I was throwing PVCs, but apparently not enough to be of concern. I was rx toprol 25mg and increased a few months ago to 50mg when they returned as well as inc in BP. I saw cardio Thursday who has scheduled same testing again - not until 4/7. I also got approval to increase toprol to 50mg, 2 xs per day. This weekend Palps have increased and bp has not decreased has increased up to 150/100 at the worst. This has made me increasingly worried and probably symptoms worse. However, I have family history on father side of heart disease. I plan to call cardio tomorrow to see what can be done. or if testing can be moved up. Does this sound sufficient or is immediate attention needed?
Brief Answer:
Doesn't sound as an urgent concern....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As long as you don't have chest pain, you are breathing fine and you are not passing out, it doesn't sound like you need immediate attention. Try and relax yourself. Warm shower, deep breathing exercise, yoga and transcedental mediation along with religious medication will benefit you. I recommend those relaxing exercises to all patients with palpitation as anxiety isn't good for palpitation.
That being said, do call your doctor tomorrow and try to prepone appointment dates few days earlier.
I will be pleased to help you in this need. So feel free to write back and ask for help until you see doctor.
God Bless!!
