Brief Answer:
Get an EKG for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this palpitation and reported skipped beats. I will suggest that we get an EKG to see if all is well and characterize the nature of these skipped beats. If no further worries are identified, we can use medications to control the rate and rhythm of heartbeat.

If I may ask, why was an ablation done for? Did you have these same symptoms before ablation? are you on any medications? If yes, can you kindly report them to me for review as this could be a side effect as well?

For now, rest and tranquility is recommended until the EKG is done and new measures prescribed.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

i did have skipped beats before the ablation. last feb i was at my regular heart specialist and doing a tread mill test and went into v-tach. They immediately sent me to hospital. i had had these v-tach episodes before but i don't think the doc truly understood me telling her what was going on until i did this test. the hospital did a good look at my heart thru my artery in my arm and found i had an electrical problem. i then at the time was taking 100 mg metoprolol which was slowing down my heart but not my skipped beats. after feb i continued to see my regular heart specialist and had an appointment with a surgeon for august. the surgeon and i decided to do the ablation and it was done last friday. i feel now worse than before i did the ablation and don't see the surgeon til the middle of oct. i am currently taking 50mg of metoprolol

Brief Answer:
What is your heart rate?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I will like to know what the current heart rate is. Also, it is important to get en EKG down to evaluate the current state of the heart electrical activity. This will guide further evaluation and treatment options.

I look forward hearing from you...

Hi, My heart rate at rest was between 90 and 100. Today i went to the e.r. and they did an ekg, chest x-ray and blood work. Blood work and x-ray good. Dr. said my skipped beats were not a-fib that they could tell and were pvc's. All i was told was to go home and contact my heart doctor for an appointment within the next 24 to 48 hours. I am still having pvc's all day long and if i wake up in the night they are still there. I thought ablation was to stop the heart from doing this but from what i read online these could continue for years so what is the purpose of an ablation. These are worse than before i had the ablation. Also how can i go back to work at a manufacturing plant that makes airplane and helicopter parts with my heart like it is?

Brief Answer:
I will suggest you wait and see your cardiologist before going!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I would have thought as much that ablation was to get rid of this. We may be wrong and I will suggest that you ask this question directly to the doctors who performed the procedure as there might be some subtle details that I might not be aware of.

I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be. Above all, keep me updated!
